Clare is a reg NZ Psychologist with significant experience working with children, teenagers, and their families. Prior to Kidz Therapy, Clare worked for the Ministry of Education in the Learning Support and Intensive Wraparound (IWS) teams. During this time, she supported children and young people with a range of challenges who were experiencing difficulty at school, at home and in the community. Clare takes an ecological approach to her work, meaning that she explores the impact of all areas of the child or young person’s life on the current challenges, working holistically to develop solutions with families.
Clare can deliver the Triple P Stepping Stones program, as well as the Incredible Years Parenting program for parents of young children. She has a passion for working in early intervention, with children from 0-8 years of age, and also has experience supporting older children and teenagers as well. Clare’s Master of Arts thesis focused on the impact of internet use on adolescents’ wellbeing, an area of continued interest for her in the changing digital landscape.
Clare is able to undertake a range of assessments with children and young people, including cognitive, educational/academic, adaptive, and behavioural assessments. She has experience working with children and young people with ASD and ADHD diagnoses, developmental delays, and those exhibiting behaviour or emotional challenges. Clare takes a positive, strength-based approach to teaching coping skills and emotional regulation, working alongside parents and teachers collaboratively.
Outside of work, Clare enjoys boardgames, playing her ukulele, and taking her dog for walks on the beach.
