Marie is the founder of Kidz Therapy (2008), originally called Kidz Psycology, the name changed to Kidz Therapy in 2011, reflected the range of services she and the team were able to offer. Marie’s Master’s research focussed on improving children’s’ reading comprehension; her research was published in NZ and overseas. Marie has authored a teachers’ resource called ‘Reciprocal Teaching – A practical approach to improving comprehension skills’ (revised 2015). Marie presented at the 23rd World Congress on Reading and regularly facilitates professional development for teachers on a variety of topics.
Marie is able to undertake comprehensive assessments for adults, teenagers, and children including cognitive functioning (IQ testing) learning disorders, academic assessments, gifted assessments including twice exceptional (2e) children, dyslexia, dyscalculia (maths), ADHD, adaptive assessments and more. Marie is an assessor and consultant for those who may require Special Assessment Conditions for exams e.g., NCEA, IB, and CIE
Marie has worked in a variety of educational settings e.g. a Psychologist at the Ministry of Education, as an RTLB, lectured at the Auckland College of Education; primary teacher, Gifted and Talented teacher, ESOL and Special Needs teacher. Marie has trained in the Scerts Model and ADI-R autism frameworks, Interactive Drawing Therapy and as a Level 4 Triple P facilitator. Marie attends regular professional development and in 2015 attended the World Gifted Conference in Denmark and Teaching and in Melbourne a conference for Supporting Students with Special Needs (2017). Marie is married and has four adult children in their 20s.
